Barb Demas
Vice President, Business Technology
For nearly two decades, Barbara Demas has served Blue Cross VT with an exceptional ability to innovate. Growing up, both of her parents worked for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, so she moved frequently and attended a different school nearly every year. Barb credits this period of transition with providing a foundational ability to overcome adversity and adapt to change.
Her first IT job was with the World Bank, where she worked from 1992 through 2001. She joined Blue Cross VT as a Senior Business Analyst in 2007 and guided the organization’s transition from Legacy to PowerMHS. One of her biggest contributions was the integration of business and IT processes, which changed the way business was conducted and enabled teams to arrive at solutions faster.
Barb advanced to a managerial role in Business Applications, served as Director of our Enterprise Data team, and transitioned to Director of the PMO. In 2025, she stepped into her current role as Vice President of Business Technology.
Before joining Blue Cross VT, Barb served as a Girl Scout Master, a Volunteer Coordinator at her local library, Substitute Teacher in the Colchester school system, and attained a Master of Science degree in Managing Information Technology from Champlain College.
In addition to her M.S., Barb holds a Master of Arts degree in English from University of Georgia, with Honors, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Georgia, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She is also Certified PMP and Certified Product Owner.
