Vermont State of Emergency Pharmacy Response

We are committed to ensuring members continue to receive seamless access to high-quality, affordable health care here in Vermont.  As your health care partner, supporting you through this State of Emergency is our number one priority.

Due to the recent flooding, if you have lost access to your medication, or need to refill prescriptions sooner than they are normally due for a refill, we are lifting the "Refill Too Soon" requirements from July 11–25, 2023 for Vermont Blue Rx members residing in Vermont.

How to Get an Override

Let your pharmacist know that you need a refill due to the state flooding emergency. They will be able to enter an override to allow the claim to process.

Questions about Your Pharmacy Coverage

If you receive medication from Home Delivery orders will continue to be processed for distribution. Shipping carriers may hold orders until impacted ZIP codes are cleared for shipping. If your need to fill your prescription urgently, you can obtain an override to have the prescription filled at a local retail pharmacy.

If you have Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont health insurance, but do not have Vermont Blue Rx pharmacy coverage, please contact your employer for more information about your options. If you do not know if you have Vermont Blue Rx, you can contact our Customer Service Center at the number listed on the back of your member ID Card for more information.

Most chain pharmacies can automatically transfer your prescriptions to another chain location. If this option is not available, please call your doctor and ask for your prescription to be filled at another available pharmacy.

If you have lost your ID card and need assistance, call our Customer Service team  toll-free at 800-247-2583, or you can log on to the Member Resource Center.
