Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont offers the only Vermont plan to receive an overall four and a half-star rating for 2021 from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Berlin, Vermont – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont (Blue Cross) is excited to announce that Blue MedicareRxSM Prescription Drug Plan is the only Part D program in Vermont to achieve an overall four and a half-star rating for 2021 from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Blue Cross, in a joint venture with three other New England Blue plans, contracts with the federal government to offer prescription drug coverage, called Blue MedicareRx Prescription Drug Plan (PDP). CMS’s overall four and a half-star rating measures how well plans perform in the areas of quality of care, access to care, and customer service.*

The annual open enrollment period for Medicare Part D is now underway. During open enrollment, which runs from October 15–December 7, Vermonters eligible for Part D may join any Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) or switch from their current Medicare PDP to any another Medicare PDP, regardless of plans’ star ratings.

“We are proud to offer an affordable prescription drug plan that is highly rated by consumers. The four and a half-star rating means that eligible Vermonters can feel confident that Blue MedicareRx offers excellent coverage, access, and overall member experience,” says Andrew Garland, Blue Cross’s Vice President of Client Relations and External Affairs. “It’s a great option for older Vermonters who rely on Medicare Part D.”

Medicare Part D adds drug coverage to Original Medicare and helps to lower prescription drug costs and protect from higher costs in the future. To learn more about plans and eligibility, Vermonters can contact the Blue MedicareRx (PDP) team at (888) 496-4178, TTY: 711 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) or visit www.rxmedicareplans.com.
